Natural Diamond Reports

Know with confidence that your D-to-Z diamond is natural with GIA diamond grading reports. Included in the reports is a full quality assessment along with polish, symmetry and fluorescence. For standard round brilliant cut diamonds, the reports come with a GIA Cut grade. Multiple security features on GIA diamond grading reports ensure their authenticity. Laser inscription available and included with select services.

Diamond Grading Report

The GIA Diamond Grading Report includes an assessment of the 4Cs with a plotted diagram of its clarity characteristics and a graphic representation of the diamond’s proportions. Laser inscription is not included but can be requested at the time of servicing.

  • D-to-Z color

  • Can be treated color

Diamond Origin Report

The Diamond Origin Report includes a full assessment of the 4Cs along with a plotted diagram of its clarity characteristics, a confirmation of geographic origin, and laser inscription of GIA report number for easy identification. This service is only for eligible diamonds, weighing 0.15 carats or more, that have gone through rough analysis with GIA before polishing.

  • D-to-Z treated or untreated color

Diamond Dossier®

The GIA Diamond Dossier® includes an assessment of the 4Cs plus a microscopic laser inscription of the GIA report number for easy identification.

  • D-to-Z untreated color

Service Restrictions
Final Observation not available for Dossier service.

DIAMOND eREPORT

The GIA Diamond eReport is delivered in a digital format and includes an assessment of the 4Cs and a high resolution image of the diamond. Laser inscription is not included but can be requested at the time of servicing.

  • 0.15-2.99 carats

  • Loose natural

  • D-to-Z untreated color

Service Restrictions
Final Observation not available for eReport service. Not available in Johannesburg and Tokyo locations.

Diamond Focus Report

The GIA Diamond Focus™ Report includes an assessment of the 4Cs and a microscopic laser inscription of the GIA report number for easy identification. Results are delivered in a digital format and are available on GIA Report Check along with a downloadable PDF of the report.

Submission Criteria

  • 0.15-0.39 carats

  • Loose natural

  • Round brilliant cut

  • D-to-Z untreated color

Items must be submitted through web services or My Laboratory using intake import files. Custom inscription service requests must be made at the time of submission.

Service Restrictions
Recheck service only available at the time of original servicing using the Auto-Response program. Update, Re-Examination and Conversion service to Focus Report not available. Conversion service from Diamond Focus Report to Diamond Grading or Diamond Dossier cannot be requested while the item is in-house. Contact your Client Services Representative for more information.

ADD-ON SERVICES

GIA Add-On Services give you further information or security for your diamond. Must accompany a Report Service or Follow-Up Service. Certain services can be expedited for an additional fee; exceptions will apply.

Laser Inscription

Personalize, brand or easily identify your diamond. Microscopically inscribe a personal message, symbol, logo, or your diamond’s unique GIA report number on its girdle.

Submission Criteria

  • Loose natural

  • Colored and D-to-Z diamonds

Not available with Report Verification services. 

 
Diamond Color Treatment Letter

If the Color Origin stated on your GIA report is "Treated Color", a Diamond Color Treatment letter can be requested to provide the specific color treatment method.

Submission Criteria
Letter can be requested without resubmitting the diamond.


Damage Assessment

The Damage Assessment service is offered as a supplement to GIA diamond reports to determine if a diamond has been damaged since its last polishing. Results of the damage assessment are delivered in letter format.

  • Loose natural or mounted

  • Colored or D-to-Z diamonds

 
Diamond Type Analysis

GIA will determine your diamond’s type (Ia, Ib, IIa, or IIb) and contact you with the results. You may also request a letter and photograph of the diamond with your analysis for an additional charge.

AGS Ideal® Report

The AGS Ideal® Report brought to you by GIA is offered as a supplement to any of our natural or laboratory-grown D-to-Z reports. This report provides the unparalleled AGS Light Performance, backed by rigorous science, with GIA’s industry-leading diamond grading reports. This report includes an ASET® Map, which was created to be a visual guide of a diamond’s cut grade. ASET® Map may be omitted upon request. The AGS Ideal® Report is a digital report with a printed version available for an additional charge.

Submission Criteria

  • Loose natural or laboratory-grown

  • D-to-Z color 

  • Eligible shapes: round brilliant and specific facet arrangements of cushion, oval, emerald, radiant, princess, and fancy round

Service Restrictions
An AGS Ideal® Report will only be issued for diamonds that receive an assessment of Excellent Polish, Excellent Symmetry and Excellent Cut.*

Recheck and Final Observation
Request a reassessment of your diamond's grading results. Service must be requested before the item is returned. Final Observation service only available for Diamond Grading Report. May request recheck service for Diamond Focus Report, special restrictions apply.

Recheck And Final Observation

Request a re-assessment of your diamond’s color, cut, clarity, color origin, polish, symmetry, measurements or fluorescence results and a new report will be issued.

Service Restrictions
Must be requested during the time of service before the item is returned. If requested within sixty days after the item is returned, the original report must be submitted and an Update service must be performed prior to the Recheck or Final Observation. Final Observation service only available for Diamond Grading Report. Recheck service for Diamond Focus Report only available at the time of original servicing using the Auto-Response program.

 

Follow-Up Services

Verify, re-evaluate or update results from your original GIA Report through GIA Follow-Up Services. For Diamond Dossier, the diamond must contain the original GIA report number laser inscription.
 

Update

Submit your diamond to be re-graded based on its current condition. Update Service can accompany Add-On Services such as Sealing or Inscription where a re-evaluation of the diamond is required prior to performing the Add-On Service.

  • Colored or D-to-Z diamonds

  • Diamond must be submitted along with its original GIA report, if available

Service Restrictions
If an item cannot be matched to the original GIA report, it will be resubmitted for grading, a new report will be issued and full grading report fees will be charged. Not available for Diamond Focus Report.

Re-Examination

If your GIA-graded diamond has been re-cut, submit your diamond for a Re-Examination. The diamond will go through the grading process and a new report will be issued. The old report will not be returned.

Service Restrictions
If an item cannot be matched to the original GIA report, it will be resubmitted for grading, a new report will be issued and full grading report fees will be charged.

Report Conversion

Convert your current GIA report to a different report type. The diamond will go through the grading process, and a new report will be issued. The old report will not be returned.

  • Loose natural

  • Colored or D-to-Z diamonds

  • Diamond must be submitted along with its original GIA report, if available

Service Restrictions
Conversion service to Focus Report not available. Conversion service from Focus Report to Diamond Grading or Dossier cannot be requested while the item is in-house.

Report Verification

Confirm that your GIA report matches your diamond. Verification results will be returned in letter format attached to your original report.

Submission Criteria

  • Loose, natural or mounted (Loose stones recommended for Update Service)

  • Colored or D-to-Z diamonds

  • Diamond must be submitted along with its original GIA report

  • Mounted items must be submitted directly to the Carlsbad Laboratory

Specialty Services

GIA Specialty Services offer further analysis and information on your noteworthy diamonds. Services are customized with in-depth information specific to your diamond. Various levels of service are available depending on your needs. 
 

Monograph

The GIA Monograph is a customized gemological report designed to showcase and celebrate exceptional diamonds. Each Monograph comes complete with photographs, detailed grading and identification information, spectroscopic analysis, historical background, and other supporting content. The Monograph tells the complete story of the diamond and is presented within a handmade box inscribed with the diamond’s name. In addition, a high-resolution PDF version of the completed GIA Monograph will be delivered through the GIA client portal.

  • Only available for qualifying diamonds

  • Must accompany a Report Service

GIA Portrait

The GIA Portrait beautifully displays a wealth of information about a diamond in a hardbound portfolio. It includes the data found in the diamond’s GIA report and high-resolution imagery, as well as information about GIA grading methodology, diamond formation, and origin identification.
 
A high-resolution PDF of the GIA Portrait will also be delivered via the GIA client portal.
 
Submission Criteria:

  • The diamond must have a GIA grading report. (Update service is required after 30 days. Subject to cancellation fees.)

Notable Letter

The Notable Letter accompanies a GIA report and is one to two pages, detailing the attributes of especially noteworthy or unique diamonds. The letter includes a face-up photo, a micro photo, and comments on the gemological properties such as color, size, and clarity that make the gemstone unique.

  • Only available for qualifying diamonds

  • Must accompany a Report Service

Mastercolor Comparison

Diamonds are submitted for color analysis and are assembled into a master diamond set for D-to-Z color grading. Each diamond submitted must meet stringent criteria for shape, weight, proportions, conditions, and more to be included as part of a set. The set is issued a Master Diamond Acceptance Letter listing the diamonds in the set at their color grade.  

Submission Criteria

  • Minimum two diamonds per set

Batch Services

GIA Batch Services utilize GIA-developed technology to analyze and sort diamonds based on varying test types.  Minimum submission quantities vary by service. 
 

Melee Analysis Service

Separates natural diamonds from simulants, laboratory-grown and potentially HPHT treated natural diamonds for round and fancy-shaped melee. For round melee only, the screened diamonds can be sorted by color range for an additional charge. Clients can also specify a size range for their round melee parcel. Submission Criteria

  • D-to-Z diamonds

  • Melee 0.9 to 4.0mm (approx. 0.005 to 0.25 ct.)

  • Minimum submission quantity - 250 stones per parcel

  • Items must be thoroughly cleaned prior to submission
Quality Assurance

Identifies and provides results based on specified test criteria for smaller diamonds. Results are presented in a table format. Grading is not included.
