GIA®Source Verification Service Submission Guidelines

These are the requirements to submit polished diamonds for the GIA® Source Verification Service (SVS):

  • Enrollment Request: GIA clients interested in submitting diamonds for the SVS are required to submit an SVS Enrollment Request Form to GIA. This form includes the  necessary information for the GIA client to successfully demonstrate the traceability of a diamond from its rough to polished state, and the integrity of the disclosed source information. Manufacturers seeking enrollment will be vetted and on-boarded by an external auditor.
  • Due Diligence: Once the enrolment request has been submitted, GIA or its authorized representative will conduct due diligence of all relevant processes from purchase of rough diamonds through all manufacturing processes untill the polished diamonds are submitted to GIA.
  • Process for Submission of Natural Diamonds for SVS: GIA will accept only those polished, natural diamonds where source information is verified through Kimberley Process certificates, invoices and other documentation. SVS service will only be available for enrolled clients who have been vetted and approved through the external audit. Only diamonds produced in facilities where due diligence is complete can be submitted for SVS. GIA will accept submissions through any of the modes for submission including courier partners, walk-in, client self-service portal (MyLab), or consolidated web service (CSS API). The packing list with all required fields must be provided at intake regardless of the submission mode selected.
Diamonds for the GIA® Source Verification Service may be submitted to any GIA laboratory location.
