GIA’s Gemstone Gathering in Bangkok hones in on the high-end

CARLSBAD, Calif. – Aug. 20, 2012 – Dr. Thitiporn Sanguanpiyapan, luxury brand expert, will discuss the unprecedented growth of the luxury sector and how jewelry companies are leveraging their brands at GIA’s (Gemological Institute of America) next Gemstone Gathering on Aug. 29 in Bangkok.

Luxury brand management has generated interest in both academic and business circles as globalization has driven the luxury market and shifted the dynamics of higher-end brands. The presentation, "Luxury Brand Management: Case Study of Jewelry Brands," will discuss challenges facing the industry, the importance of branding for jewelry companies and how some leading brands are moving ahead of competitors by maintaining relevance across cultures.

Sanguanpiyapan, executive director of the Luxellence Center, Thailand’s knowledge center for the luxury industry, is a luxury brand entrepreneur, educator, researcher and consultant. She holds a Ph.D. in consumer behavior from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and recently co-developed the first MBA program in Luxury Brand Management in collaboration with IFA Paris – a one year program in three cities: Shanghai, Paris and Bangkok.

GIA’s Gemstone Gathering, a free event, begins at 6 p.m. on Aug. 29 in the “Crowne Room 1-3” on the 21st floor of the Crowne Plaza Hotel (formerly known as the Pan Pacific), Lumpini Park in Bangkok.
