Anna Martin Named GIA Senior Vice President for Institute and Industry Relations

Industry leader Martin will guide and counsel GIA executives and leadership teams

CARLSBAD, Calif. – Jan. 6, 2022 GIA has named well-known and universally respected industry leader Anna Martin to a new position as senior vice president for Institute and industry relations. Martin will mentor and work with senior GIA executives to develop and further relationships with key individuals, companies and other global gem and jewelry trade stakeholders.

“Under Anna’s incredible leadership as senior vice president and global head of business development and beneficiation over the past seven years, our successful work with miners, manufacturers and retailers dramatically expanded,” said GIA CEO Susan Jacques. “In this new role, Anna will devote her expertise and energy to help secure the Institute’s future and ensure the success of our very important consumer protection mission. I look forward to GIA continuing to benefit from her unique experience and wise guidance.”

Anna Martin is one of the most recognized leaders in the global gem and jewelry industry. In her career at Standard Chartered Bank and ABN AMRO, she significantly expanded the availability and delivery of financial products and services to the global diamond trade. She served as a Governor on the GIA Board from 1997 to 2011, including as vice-chair from 2008 to 2011. She serves on the boards of many industry organizations, and her work and service have been recognized with numerous awards.

As previously announced, GIA’s business development functions will integrate under Mark Buntz, GIA senior vice president and chief marketing officer, with a strong focus on the U.S., China and India markets.
