How does the inscription matching work?

When paired with the GIA App, the GIA Match iD™ can match a diamond to its GIA grading report using Artificial Intelligence (AI). Once you take an image of your diamond’s report number inscription using the GIA Match iD™, the GIA App will analyze the physical characteristics and the report number inscribed on your diamond to the image of your diamond’s inscription in GIA’s secure database. GIA’s proprietary AI technology will identify if there is a match and automatically find and present your diamond’s GIA Report.
 
Inscription matching is currently available for loose natural diamonds. All loose diamonds with a GIA Diamond Dossier^® and most diamonds with a Diamond Grading Report dated on or after February 22, 2022 are eligible for inscription matching. Inscription matching is only available on iOS devices.
