Human Resources Manager
Location: Gabarone, Botswana
Summary:
Provides daily human resources guidance and support to the management and staff of the assigned GIA site. Works in closely collaboration with the Corporate Human Resources functions and various members of the GIA staff and management worldwide as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.:

In conjunction with Corporate HR and under the supervision of Director, Global HR, the HR Manager will:
a. Develop and administer local human resources plans and procedures for site personnel. Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems
b. Guide, support and monitor performance evaluation process and update as necessary
c. Develop, recommend, and implement personnel policies and procedures; prepare and maintain handbook on policies and procedures
d. Regularly monitors and ensures compliance of employment laws and regulations e. Perform compensation and benefits administration - Responsible for talent acquisition / recruitment for the site to hire new staff by sourcing, screening, arranging interviews, interviewing candidates, completing background checks, and preparation of job offers. With approval, may extend job offers
- Responsible for onboarding and local training of employees
- Address, resolve and document employee personnel matters or employee relations issues. May need to represent company at formal or informal hearings or meetings. Reports or coordinates matters with the Director, Global Human Resources

Assist management and employees in human resources matters and maintains maximum confidentially and privacy on employee welfare and personnel matters, such as:
a. Reviews employee relations matters and suggests solutions to management
b. Ensures employee files and records are accurate and timely updated in HRIS system
c. Works with payroll provider
d. Administration of leaves
e. In coordination with Corporate HR will assist with global international assignment program, including visa processing and administration - Maintains personnel files in accordance with company and legal standards, participates in HR and internal audit process
- Performs any other duties as may be assigned from time to time to meet the exigencies of GIA
- Communicates effectively, gets along with coworkers and management, and deals with others effectively and professionally under pressure
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.- Must have at least 5 years of related human resources experience with expertise in employee relations, compliance and labor law, recruiting and hiring.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee and business matters.
- Ability to get along with a diverse group of individuals, communicate with all staff levels, and to work as a team.
- Basic computer skills, experience with entering data into a computer, experience with spreadsheets, databases, cloud-based platforms, preferred
- Prior experience with MS Word, Windows and Excel strongly preferred.
- Good attention to detail required
- Time management and organizational skills preferred
- Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Ability to generate company loyalty among staff
- Previous experience working with a US-based or multinational company, preferred
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field with courses in human resources preferred. At least 5 years of related work experience and/or training.
Language Skills
English as a Second Language required. Must be able to communicate in English (fluently understand, read and write) and participate in training taught in English.
