The chapter invites you to join this professional enhancement opportunity for hands-on experience with colourful and intriguing opals. Space is very limited. Register today!

Debbie and Chris Good formed Opalink – a wholesale source for loose Australian opal – in 1991 and for the past 25 years have been buying rough opal direct from miners in Australia. The Goods’ spend a few months in the opal field of Yowah (amongst the Queensland boulder opal fields) each winter acquiring rough opal, which Chris fashions into gemstones ready to be set into a piece of jewellery. The couple spends the remainder of the year traveling throughout the U.K., Europe and the U.S. showing and selling their pieces.

Whether you are a student or a serious gem dealer, join us for a fun, practical evening of identifying and valuing opals. You will be able to examine different types of opals of different values to test your skills.

Please bring along your 10× loupe (but don’t worry if you don’t have one, we can provide one for you), pen and paper. GIA will make a few microscopes available.

Space is limited to 20 for this event and only one ticket is available per person.

All are welcome to attend; whether you're a GIA graduate, student, industry associate, hobbyist or guest. Please share this invitation with any others you feel would be interested.
