Mike Magee

Mike is the Manager of Jewelry Manufacturing Arts. Mike’s interest in jewelry began after graduating from Cornell University, when he wanted to learn how to smith swords. After completing the jewelry program at Minneapolis Community & Technical College, he then worked as an apprentice to mokume gane designer, George Sawyer. Before coming to GIA, he ran his own Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) and custom jewelry business and taught at the Minneapolis Community & Technical College. Mike is an accomplished designer: he won best jewelry design in the 2010 T-spline organic modeling competition, and was featured in MJSA Custom Jeweler and the 2012 “Bench Pressure Challenge” at Instore magazine’s Smart Jewelry Show. Mike joined GIA in 2013 as a Jewelry Manufacturing Arts instructor and enjoys teaching the practical aspects of jewelry design and manufacturing.
